After nearly a year after the first spy shot of the Yamaha R15′s facelifted version was spotted doing the testing rounds somewhere in the NCR region, prompting a bevy of rumors regarding the engine capacity of the new R15, the time has finally come for Yamaha Motor India to unveil the Yamaha R15′s facelifted version. The new Yamaha R15 will be christened the Version 2.0 and here is what the latest motorcycle from Yamaha India brings to the table.
While we do know that the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 will retain the same 150cc engine capacity, a minor increase in power and torque is like as a wider rear tyre makes it the R15 Version 2.0. A wider rear tyre means more rolling resistance and in order to increase the performance or even to keep it constant, Yamaha will either have to bump up power and torque marginally or indulge in gearing changes.
Tomorrow, when Yamaha launch the R15 Version 2.0 at Delhi, these two factors will be clear. This apart, the R15 Version 2.0 comes with a major style upgrade, to look more like a supersports motorcycle with a high rear end. While the front end of the R15 Version 2.0 is relatively unchanged, the rear end is where all the action is. Replete with a raised profile, the R15 Version 2.0 also gets a floating number plate mount.
The muffler too is a brand new design along with a carbon fiber shroud. Split seats make it into the equation with the rear seat being quite high set. The alloy wheels now feature ten spokes instead of the five spoked design the previous iteration of the R15 used to come with. The engine fairing also sees a minor redesign. Another unconfirmed change in the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 is that the motorcycle has undergone more localization for Yamaha to be able to offer it at a very competitive price. Watch this space.
