As many as 89 beautiful women from around the globe have gathered together in San Paulo, Brazil for the past three weeks to compete for the coveted title of Miss Universe. And, on Monday (September 12) night, the world witnessed as reigning Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete crowned her successor.
At the end of the 60th annual Miss Universe pageant, it was Miss Angola Leila Lopes who came out triumphant. During the final round, the 25-year-old beauty was asked what physical characteristics she would change, and she replied that she is very satisfied with the way God created her and that she wouldn't change a thing.
Lopes beat first runner-up Miss Ukraine Olesya Stefanko and overshadowed fan favorite Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup, who came out fourth. Miss Brazil Priscila Machado and Miss China Zilin Luo finished third and fifth respectively, while Miss USA Alyssa Campanella didn't pass the top 16 round and Miss Australia Scherri-Lee Biggs stopped at top 10.
This year's Miss Universe pageant is hosted by NBC "Today" anchor Natalie Morales and the Bravo network's Andy Cohen. Adrienne Maloof of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", actress Vivica A. Fox and Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega were among the judges for the swimsuit, evening grown and interview competitions.
