There's no doubt that Beyonce, a.k.a. Mrs. Jay Z, is one of the most stylish musicians in the game. She constantly surprises with statement-making ensembles both on and off the red carpet, always managing to strike the perfect balance between bold glamour and timeless beauty.
She's appeared on countless magazine covers, modeled in Tom Ford's first women's collection runway show (see video below), and even dabbled in design when she and her mother started their House of Deréon line back in 2004. Not only is Beyonce the official queen of hip-hop, she's also become one of the music industry's chicest icons.
Today, on B's 30th birthday, we're looking back to see how far, in fashion, she's come — from the days of matching with her Destiny's Child crew, to her curve-hugging performance wear, to her stunning designer gowns. Take a look through our gallery to see the best of Beyonce through the years.

MTV VMAs 2011: Kanye West and Jay-Z's 'surprise' performance
It was maybe the worst-kept secret of the 2011 Video Music Awards: Kanye West and Jay-Z took the stage for a "surprise" performance of their song "Otis" early in Sunday's (Aug. 28) show.
Which doesn't mean it was any less fun to watch. Live hip-hop can sometimes be an iffy proposition, but these two guys know how to command a stage as well as anyone, and they did exactly that.
And there actually was one surprise: A fan jumped on stage behind them in the middle of their performance, prompting a quick response from the VMA security team. Neither rapper seemed thrown off by the distraction, though.
Video of the performance is below. We'll post the full, official version when it becomes available.

Birthday festivities thrill in honor of Michael Jackson
In honor of what would have been Michael Jackson's 53rd birthday, ongoing activities continue through today as part of The Legend's Weekend at 2300 Jackson Street, Michael's boyhood home.
Entertainment, food, arts and crafts, a circus and more have been part of the festivities from last Friday through today.
The highlight of today's events will be a cake-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m in front of the modest house at 2300 Jackson Street marking Jackson's actual birthday. A 4-foot cake, made by Sugarbuds Bakery in Canada, will be featured.
Fireworks, with Jackson music as a backdrop, will also be presented.
The Legend's Weekend has been presented by LGR Partners Inc., the city of Gary and the Jackson Family Foundation.
Keith Jackson, first cousin of Michael, said he's always happy to join in hometown celebrations honoring his famous family member. Jackson and his Triple Dose Band also performed over the weekend in addition to other artists such as the Chi-Lites and Click Clark.
"I'm basically feeling really good about being able to celebrate Michael's birthday," Jackson said. "I'm proud of all the accomplishments that Michael and his brothers made in their career."
Jackson said he and his brother, Ron, always work together to help rejuvenate the property at 2300 Jackson Street, and with this big legend's event weekend, he said they've been working on the landscaping and floral displays at the home.
