Five Dead In Stage Collapse at Pukkelpop Festival

At least five people have died and seventy injured during a stage collapse at the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium.

The incident took place yesterday when a huge storm, which swept across Belgium, caused scenes of devastation across the festival site. Two stages collapsed leaving festival goers scrambling for safety.

Organisers of the festival, which takes place 40 miles east of Brussels, have decided to cancel the rest of the event commenting “Pukkelpop is in deep mourning. We truly sympathise with the families and friends of the victims.”

The festival, which began yesterday and was attended by 60,000 festival goers was set to see the likes of The Streets, Foo Fighters, Eminem, Tinie Tempah and Trentemøller play throughout the weekend.

This is the second year the event has been struck by tragedy after Ou Est Le Swimming Pool singer Charles Haddon committed suicide at the festival last year.
