Man Puts Out Fire With Vacuum, It's Awesome (VIDEO)

It might come as a surprise, but it turns out flames can't beat a vacuum in a head-to-head battle.

One brave stupid man decided to put his household appliance to the test by attempting to suck up a fire that looks like it's been ignited on purpose, and the blaze puts up a good fight. Inexplicably, though, the Oreck comes out victorious in the end.

We don't recommend you try this experiment -- or any variation of it -- at home, but it's entertaining to watch from the safety of your desk.

Vancouver Earthquake: West Coast Rattled By 6.4 Quake (Video)

The Canada and U.S. West Coast was rattled by an earthquake on Friday afternoon.

The USGS said the 6.7 quake was located off Vancouver Island (see map below).

The USGS said the quake's epicentre was located about 279 km from Vancouver.

According to numerous tweets the quake was felt in Seattle and Vancouver. Initial reports indicate no injuries or damage. NOAA also indicated that there was no risk of a tsunami from the quake.

The earthquake was felt as far away as the Okanagan.

B.C.'s coast is a seismically active zone with small quakes not being uncommon. Larger seismic events have struck the area. In 2001, a 6.8 quake struck Washington state causing property damage in Seattle. In 1980 Mt. Saint Helens, located just 150 km south of Seattle, erupted showering ash all over the region and disrupting air travel.

Batmanning Is The Next... Oh Enough Already (VIDEO)

Just in case planking, owling and horsemaning didn't satiate your need for quirky photo poses this Summer, the Internet has now suggested Batmanning as an alternate meme.

The pose requires to you keep your body rigid, like planking, but with the added twist of hanging by your feet. Beyond the fact that, ugh, let's please retire "____ is the new planking" as a phrase, this pose strikes us as more dangerous than its predecessors. If people were fatally injuring themselves while lying flat on the ground, it seems that hanging precariously from unstable surfaces is just asking for trouble.

Maybe we're wrong, maybe Batmanning will take the Internet by storm, but we have a feeling this meme might be finally falling to the wayside.

Penguin 'Happy Feet' Released South Of New Zealand

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Free at last. The wayward emperor penguin dubbed "Happy Feet" is back in the ocean south of New Zealand.

The penguin was released from the research vessel Tangaroa on Sunday morning about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of remote Campbell Island in water about 935 feet (285 meters) deep.

Wellington Zoo veterinarian Lisa Argilla said Happy Feet needed some "gentle encouragement" to leave the purpose-built crate that had been his home on the boat for six days. He slid down a makeshift ramp backward and then took off.

The bird was discovered June 20 on a New Zealand beach far from his Antarctic feeding grounds. He became sick from eating sand and was transferred to the Wellington Zoo. His story has captured the imagination of people around the world.

Google Doodle Pays Tribute To Freddie Mercury (VIDEO)

The latest Google Doodle, which went live for some on September 4, pays tribute to Freddie Mercury, who would have celebrated his 65th birthday on September 5.

In June, Google wowed the web with their interactive tribute to master guitarist Les Paul and inspired countless Google guitar tutorials.

This time around, they've honored the rock band Queen's lead vocalist, who battled HIV for years before dying on November 24th, 1991 at the age of 45.

A video, which appears over the Google logo, features an animated tribute to Mercury, highlighting Queen's 1978 hit "Don't Stop Me Now."

Queen guitarist and songwriter Brian May wrote a post about Freddie Mercury for the Google Blog.

Kim Kardashian's Music Video Leaked (VIDEO)

Once upon a time, before Kim Kardashian got hitched to Kris Humphries and the media wrote all about it, the reality star produced a single and a video to go along with it that was meant to further expand her looming pop culture empire. Unfortunately, March's "Jam (Turn It Up)" didn't quite earn an audience following, and her video was denied its moment in the spotlight. Now Perez Hilton has posted a leaked clip from the never-before-seen music video, and judging from 54-second footage -- which features bubble-gum pink hot pants, sticky lip gloss, and some serious, panic attack-inducing strobe lights -- we understand why.

Thief takes off with hot air balloon

An American in Quebec for the annual hot air balloon festival has been grounded by a thief.

His truck, balloon and hydraulic lift, valued at around $75,000, were all stolen from his hotel parking lot early Friday morning.

Police are now investigating.

Wes Pittman came from Florida for the international hot air balloon festival in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. this week.

He's been a regular at the festival for the past seven years.

But Pittman said his flying career may be over if his open-cockpit balloon isn't recovered.

"It's just gorgeous," he said. "It's as close as one can be to flying like a bird. I have mixed emotions to go out and find another balloon that I like, have it built. It's a pretty big hassle."

Festival spokeswoman Marie Claude Beauvais said there have been other incidents of hot air balloon theft, but it's not a growing trend.

She hopes others pilots at the festival will get Pittman up in the air one more time before the event ends Sunday.

"It's a very tight community," she said. " I'm sure any pilot will welcome him to be a co-pilot in their balloon."
